Wishbone Chair CH24

With its unique shape, Hans J. Wegner’s iconic CH24 Wishbone chair holds a special place in the world of modern design. In designing the CH24, Wegner chose to combine the backrest and armrest in a single piece. To stabilize the steam-bent seat and ensure comfortable support, Wegner developed the distinctive Y-shaped backrest from which the Wishbone Chair takes its name. More than 100 steps are required to produce each Wishbone chair, most of which are performed by hand.

The hand-woven seat alone requires about an hour of work by a skilled craftsman, using approximately 120 meters of paper cord, whose impressive durability and stability make the chair durable and long-lasting. The Wishbone chair offers comfort and stability, while also satisfying the aesthetic desire for a distinctive and elegant shape. (cit. Carl Hansen & son)
